Hernando County, FL- For 11 years the Hernando Hispanic Heritage has provided Hernando County visitors and residents with information about what it means to be Hispanic.  According to founder and President Vivian Rivera, the festival, a non-profit organization has grown from a small dance to an annual Hernando County event that features music, all kinds of food, and exhibits. “I wanted Hernando County to celebrate as a community diversity, culture, heritage and accept each other, cause we all come from somewhere and we can all learn from each other.”

Rivera says the festival is more than food and music.  It’s all about helping young Hernando County Hispanics with scholarship money for education.  Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors pursuing college.  For more information about scholarships and how to apply visit, HHH – Hernando Hispanic Heritage

At this year’s event which celebrated Cinco DeMayo, live musical performers came out to entertain and pay tribute to music legend Carlos Santana.  Rivera is proud to say, “We welcome every kind of Latin music, Greek, Italian, and Latin food. She mentioned, “I love food and I love music.  This brings a community together.”

Rivera hopes the non-profit can continue to bring joy to the Hernando area.   She says there’s a future event on October 5th in downtown Brooksville that will be a multi-cultural parade with floats that ends in Hernando Park.  For more information, you can contact Vivian Rivera at the  website HHH – Hernando Hispanic Heritage, facebook (20+) Facebook.
